At Passover, Honoring Courageous Women

A Passover message from Hadassah Foundation Chair Audrey Weiner and Director Stephanie Blumenkranz:

As we prepare to sit at our seder tables this year, the conflict and challenges detailed in the Passover story feel particularly resonant. However, the story is also about individuals and their acts of courage. And while Moses may seem to be the “star” of the Passover drama, we must remember that his sister Miriam bravely protected him when he was an infant. In our post-October 7 world, women are again working to chart a future that is safe and responsible.

Over the past six months, we have been so inspired by the leadership our grantee organizations in both Israel and the United States have demonstrated – including responding to growing rates of domestic violence, addressing widespread trauma, empowering American Jewish teens to confront antisemitism, and working so that there are more women around Israel’s government, national security, and diplomatic tables.

The challenges of today are enormous, but the vibrant ecosystem of feminist organizations we have built over the past quarter century understands what it means to meet the challenge. To ensure they succeed, we are expanding our Core grants program, co-leading a collective grantmaking effort to provide additional dollars into critical areas, and continuing our educational programs. Needs continue to grow, and with your support, our response will continue to grow as well.

We hope this Passover holiday provides an opportunity for you to be with friends and loved ones, and to discuss the relevance and implications of the Passover story today. Chag Sameach.

Thank you for your ongoing support,

Warmly,

Audrey & Stephanie

P.S. Be sure to watch your inbox after Passover when we’ll be opening a request for additional grant proposals, kicking off our 25th anniversary year, and unveiling a new logo, tagline and video.
