Our Story

The Hadassah Foundation leads the movement to revolutionize the role, perception, and impact of all who identify as women and girls in Israel and the American Jewish community. Established by Hadassah, The Women’s Zionist Organization of America in 1998 to refocus the priorities of the Jewish community through creative grantmaking, the Hadassah Foundation has awarded more than $11 million to over 100 organizations. We believe that advancing gender equity in Israel and the United States through collective funding, relationship building and education, will foster lasting change and positive impact for people of all genders.

Powering a Vibrant Ecosystem

In 25+ years, our grantmaking has built a vibrant network of feminist organizations in Israel and the U.S. Our programs and grants elevate and empower women and girls in leadership roles, confront gender-based violence, increase female political representation – and much more. We support women and girls of all backgrounds in Israel and in the American Jewish community.

How We Do It

Studying the root causes of injustices and inequities, so they are addressed with intent and transformative strategies

Mobilizing communities, influencers, and experts who galvanize the Jewish philanthropic community to prioritize investment in women and girls.

Supporting organizations, initiatives, and bold ideas that create real and lasting social change.

We envision a world in which women are working within and across communities to inspire and drive economic, social, and political equality for all people.
