Wishing You a Peaceful and Sweet New Year

September 19, 2025

The most common greeting during the High Holidays is “L’shana tova,” a phrase whose literal translation is “to a good year.” Last year, with the horrors of October 7 painfully fresh in our collective memories, we at the Hadassah Foundation, like many of our friends in Israel, said, “L’shana tova yoter” – “to a better year.”

As another Jewish year begins, we don’t think you need a reminder of the past 12 months’ many challenges. Instead, we’d like to share some good news: Even in hard times, the Hadassah Foundation, our grant recipients in Israel and the U.S., and our generous supporters, are laying the groundwork for better and more equitable years ahead.

In particular, we’re excited to welcome into our community of grant recipients five Israeli organizations that are improving the lives of all who identify as women and girls: ATZUM-Task Force on Human Trafficking and Prostitution, the Institute for Gender Equity in Education, the 5050 Initiative, the Adva Center, and Empowering Ethiopian Women. You can learn more about each of them here.

We are praying for peace,  the return of the hostages — and a better year.
